About Reiki
What is Reiki?
A spiritual healing practice facilitated by a gentle, light touch. Treatments support and assist the body towards balance and promotes relaxation.
Reiki treatments address the whole body and not just individual symptoms. As the body returns to a balanced state, improvement in emotional and physical wellbeing helps to relieve symptoms from pain or discomfort.
What is Reiki’s Origin?
Reiki is Japanese in origin and was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s. Introduced to the Western world in the late 1930’s, Reiki practice has become a widely accepted form of healing by many throughout the world today.
How Reiki Can Help:
Reiki helps people to relax and feel better by influencing the whole body towards balance – mind, body and spirit. Treatments restore balance and promote relaxation that strengthen and support the body’s natural healing response. Treatments have been known to:
- improve sleep and insomnia
- reduce stress and anxiety
- ease physical and emotional pain
- stabilize blood pressure
- improve heart rate and digestion
- relieve side effects from conventional medicine
The practice of Reiki also supports desired lifestyle changes as people tend to feel calmer and more centered enabling them to stay focused on their goals and objectives and stay motivated to making healthier choices. Reiki can help support:
- weight loss
- smoking cessation
- exercise
- sprititual practice
- personal growth and transformation
Reiki for Self-Care:
While Reiki is often thought of as a treatment offered from a credible Reiki practitioner, many are surprised to learn how simple of a practice it is to learn. Reiki can be learned by anyone at any age regardless of their state of health.
Yes, you can learn how to practice Reiki and more importantly practice Reiki on yourself. Reiki practice can be a transformative experience as it helps to strengthen and support even the most subtle changes one desires such as healing the whole body, making healthier lifestyle choices, and personal and spiritual development and growth.
Reiki is a practice not only for treatment or as an intervention for others, but as a daily self-practice to support our own health, vitality and wellbeing. To demonstrate my own commitment not only as a practitioner, but as an individual practicing Reiki on a daily basis, I have placed this banner below to illustrate just that!
Is Reiki Safe?
Reiki is a natural healing therapy that can be combined with conventional treatments to reduce unpleasant side effects and to safely manage chronic conditions.
There are no known contraindications or serious side effects from a treatment. Reiki practice is safe and effective for adults, children and pets.
Is Reiki a Religion?
Reiki is a spiritual healing practice in nature and not based on any particular belief system or religion.
It has been well documented that Reiki originated from a spiritual practice, meditation, in the early 1900’s.
Recipients of Reiki treatments do not need to believe in the practice itself to receive the healing benefits Reiki has to offer.
Reiki Complements Standard Conventional Medicine:
The practice of Reiki in modern society is gaining wide acceptance as a complementary healing modality.
A growing number of health centers and hospitals are offering integrative medicine such as Reiki to augment conventional treatment in their wellness and complementary care programs. Licensed health care professionals, nurses and practitioners are completing Reiki training and routinely include Reiki along with their standard medical treatments.
Studies on the effects of Reiki performed on cancer and heart patients shows that patients are more relaxed, reduces their level of stress and anxiety and often times improves their sleep.
